Wassa East District has officially been enlisted as one of five districts in the Western Region to benefit from the government’s flagship Free Primary Healthcare (FPHC) policy, with the District Chief Executive pledging the Assembly’s unflinching support for its successful implementation.

In a significant public health progress for the Wassa East District, the proportion of households with drinking water free from harmful E. coli contamination has doubled over a three-year period, rising from 19% in 2022 to 38% in 2025.

In a concerted effort to assess healthcare delivery and strengthen sector collaboration, the Wassa East District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Alhassan Ibrahim, has embarked on a familiarization tour of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Hospital, which serves as the District Hospital.

The Wassa East District Health Directorate has held its 2025 Annual Performance Review meeting, celebrating significant improvements in maternal and child health, most notably achieving zero maternal deaths, even as it confronts emerging challenges like a rise in teenage pregnancies.
