A high-level delegation from the Parliamentary Select Committee on Water and Sanitation has paid a working visit to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) Daboase Headworks to assess ongoing expansion works being undertaken by STRABAG Company.
The team, led by Hon. Joseph Azumah (MP for Akrofuom) and Hon. Robert Wisdom Cudjoe (MP for Prestea Huni-Valley) was received on Saturday, 25th April 2026, by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Alhasan Ibrahim, alongside key officials including the Assistant Director IIA, Mr. Maxwell Gyan, GWCL Chief Manager Richard Eshun, Production Manager Gideon Annor, and Station Manager George Yeboah Affari.
The inspection revealed significant progress on the expansion project, which is poised to substantially enhance and improve water production and distribution capacity across the catchment areas.

Once completed, the project is expected to improve access to safe and reliable potable water for surrounding communities, reduce supply interruptions, and meet the demands of a growing population.
Stakeholders noted that the intervention is particularly critical for addressing longstanding water challenges and promoting public health through improved sanitation outcomes.
The delegation commended the government for prioritizing the water sector, stressing that sustained investment in infrastructure such as the Daboase Headworks is indispensable for national development. They further observed that the expansion aligns with broader government objectives of ensuring equitable water distribution and strengthening sanitation systems countrywide.
The visit reaffirmed the government’s continuous commitment to the water and sanitation sector through robust policy direction, adequate funding, and strategic partnerships. Such initiatives are expected to drive improved living standards, stimulate economic growth, and enhance the overall well-being of citizens.
