Fire Service Joins Massive Clean-Up Exercise in Wassa East

The Wassa East District witnessed an impressive display of community and institutional collaboration during the National Sanitation Day exercise held on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Aligned with the theme, “Promoting Cleanliness as a Practice and Mindset,” the event saw massive participation across all four area councils. Residents, cleared weeds, filth and desilt choked gutters.

Adding significant firepower to the effort, officers from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) supported the exercise by using their specialized equipment to tackle severely choked gutters that were difficult for residents to clear.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Alhassan Ibrahim, who was the official guest for the event, praised the collaborative spirit. He commended the Assembly Members for their leadership and the GNFS for their crucial support, which proved vital in addressing the most challenging areas.

“The partnership with the Fire Service today demonstrates that a clean environment is a shared responsibility,” Hon. Ibrahim stated. “This goes beyond a single day of cleaning; we are actively building a new mindset where every citizen and institution sees cleanliness as a non-negotiable practice for our collective well-being.”

The successful exercise has boosted morale in the district, with community leaders pledging to sustain the momentum through regular neighborhood clean-up efforts.
