The Wassa East District Assembly was glad to receive the presence of the Hon. Regional Minister Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko at the Assembly in Daboase. The purpose of his visit was to inspect and monitor the smooth progress of various developmental projects initiated in the District in the year 2022, and also pay a courtesy call on the Head Pastor of Church of Christ, Ateiku.
Upon arrival, the Hon. Regional Minister and his entourage was warmly welcomed by the Hon. District Chief Executive, the District Coordinating Director and the entire staff of the Wassa East District Assembly.
Hon. Kwabena Okeyre Darko held a short staff durbar at the District Assembly hall where he interacted with the staff and assured them of government’s intentions for them the year 2023.
The Hon. Regional Minister, accompanied by his entourage and some representation from the Assembly proceeded to Ateiku to respond to the courtesy call made by the Head Pastor of Church of Christ. Members including Kings men and the Head Pastor gave the delegation a warm welcome upon arrival. At Ateiku, the Head Pastor presented to the delegation the Church’s interventions towards the development of the community Ateiku, and Wassa East as a whole.
The Head Pastor Rev. Lawrence Oduro also led the delegation to inspect a block factory project set up by the Church of Christ. This project was aimed at providing employment for the young and vibrant men of Ateiku and its surrounding communities but mainly the concrete blocks which would be produced at the factory would be used to support the construction of household lavatory in the community and district-wise. This initiative was as a result from the Hon. District Chief Executive’s working visit to the USA, where he met with some investors who were willing to sponsor the construction of household toilet facilities with constant running water so as to enable the District achieve the UN SDG 6 goal.
The Hon. Regional Minister together with the delegation from the Assembly later visited the water expansion project by Strabag at Daboase Water Works. They further visited the Narubiz Company which was established in the District during his excellency President Akuffo Addo’s 1D1F initiative. Narubiz is a company in the district known for the processing of raw rubber into finished materials.
The delegation lastly visited the the construction site of the new Assembly which is in progress at Kakakrom.
