
In a ceremony brimming with pride and academic celebration, the Member of Parliament for Wassa East District Hon. Isaac Adjei Mensah has rewarded the constituency exceptional BECE graduates with Ghc 2,000.00 each, recognizing their outstanding performance in the 2025 exams.
The presentation took place during the Ghana’s 69th Independence Day parade at the St. Martins Anglican School Park in Daboase, drawing teachers, parents, and community members to applaud the academic achievements of their wards.
While the MP celebrated the individual brilliance of the students, institutional excellence was also highlighted. According to the district’s performance data, ATEIKU CHURCH OF CHRIST JHS and KUBEKOR D/A JHS were recognized as the best-performing schools, while ACCRA NEWTOWN D/A JHS was celebrated as the Most Improved School.
Male Category: Dominance at the Top
Leading the charge in the male category with an impressive raw score of 519 is Mr. Michael Franklin Mensah Opoku, a former student of SIPL D/A JHS A. He is currently continuing his academic journey at the prestigious Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS), Takoradi.
Hot on his heels, securing second position with a raw score of 511, is Mr. Frank Annor Anim. He studied at Ateiku Church of Christ JHS and has now gained admission to St. Augustine’s College, Cape Coast, one of the country’s finest secondary institutions.
Female Category: Brilliance and Balance
In the female category, Ms. Victoria Arthur emerged as the top student with a remarkable raw score of 518. A product of Atobiase St. John’s Catholic JHS, Ms. Arthur is now studying at the prestigious Holy Child School, Cape Coast.
Following closely, three female students recorded an impressive tie with raw scores of 507:
· Ms. Evelyn Opoku Ansah, formerly of Old Subri D/A JHS, is now studying at Wesley Girls’ High School, Cape Coast.
· Ms. Queenster Twumwaa Opoku, a product of Ateiku Church of Christ JHS, has gained admission to Ghana National College, Cape Coast.
· Ms. Favour Ama Mensah, also from Ateiku Church of Christ JHS, is now enrolled at the iconic Achimota School, Accra.
A Commitment Beyond the Cash
Addressing the gathering, the MP emphasized that the Ghc 2,000.00 reward is only the beginning of a long-term investment in these students’ futures.
“My office will not lose sight of you after today,” the MP assured the awardees. “We will monitor your progress from Senior High School through to the tertiary level. Where you need support, we will provide it. When you graduate, we will be there to help you secure jobs. This is not just a reward for past performance; it is a partnership for your future.”
The MP’s holistic approach, tying academic excellence to sustained mentorship and career support has been widely praised by educators and parents in the district, who see it as a model for transforming educational outcomes in rural communities.
With these young scholars now scattered across some of Ghana’s top secondary schools from GSTS to Holy Child, and from St. Augustine’s to Achimota, the future of Wassa East looks brighter than ever.
