MISSION STATEMENT
VISION
The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in Ghana has the vision of building a “disaster resilient Ghana” and the mission to manage disasters by coordinating resources, developing community capacity, and improving livelihoods. This involves preventing disasters, creating awareness, training communities, and providing relief to victims, all while working to reduce poverty through social mobilization and employment generation.
- Managing disasters by coordinating resources:
This involves working with government institutions and non-governmental agencies to pool resources for effective disaster management.
- Developing the capacity of communities:
This focuses on empowering local communities to respond effectively to emergencies through training, awareness programs, and support for community-based organizations.
- Improving livelihoods through social mobilization, employment generation, and poverty reduction projects:This recognizes the link between disaster vulnerability and poverty and aims to address these issues through sustainable development initiatives.
The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is responsible for preventing and managing disasters, improving the lives of the vulnerable, and developing community capacity to respond to emergencies.
NADMO coordinates government institutions and non-governmental agencies to manage disasters, rehabilitate affected individuals, and build community capacity. It also promotes disaster risk reduction and climate change risk management.
